x4juli is a port of the main parts of log4j to the J2SE Logging API. The default implementation is incomplete and therefore still not widely used, even when introduced in J2SE 1.4. x4juli provides logmanagers, formatters, handlers, and filters to fill the gap. The interface and use of the original API has not been changed. Additionally, x4juli delivers a native implementation of the Jakarta Commons Logging (JCL) API and the Simple Logging Facade for Java (SLF4J) API.
RIFE/Laszlo is based on RIFE/Jumpstart and geared towards easily getting started with the creation of Rich Internet Applications using OpenLaszlo. It is a ready-to-run source distribution and file structure that allows you to get started with a new OpenLaszlo application with RIFE in less then 2 minutes. Typically, all that you have to do is unzip the archive, open the project file in your favourite IDE, and run the application. Thanks to a dynamic development model, you rarely have to restart, and are able to gradually implement your application in an iterative manner.
LdapTemplate is a framework to simplify LDAP programming in Java, built on the same principles as Spring Jdbc. The LdapTemplate class encapsulates all the plumbing work involved in traditional LDAP programming, such as creating Contexts, looping through NamingEnumerations, handling Exceptions, and cleaning up resources. This leaves the programmer free to handle the important stuff: where to find data (DNs and Filters) and what do do with it (map to and from domain objects, bind, modify, unbind, etc.).
OpenDMTP (Open Device Monitoring and Tracking Protocol) is a highly configurable and extensible protocol for communicating with mobile devices over high-latency/low-bandwidth networks. The protocol is particularly geared towards the transmission of GPS base location information and includes a full-featured reference implementation showcasing its capabilities.
LibMySequoia provides an alternative library for MySQL C client library (libmysqlclient.so) to benefit from the Sequoia high availability and performance scalability clustering solution. Native MySQL client programs can use the Sequoia clustering solution without changing any line of code in the application. The benefit of this solution is that native C applications, PHP, Perl, and Python programs using the MySQL C API interface now can transparently connect to a Sequoia cluster.
VRaptor 2 is a Web-based MVC and IOC framework based on many frameworks and ideas (Seam, Stripes, Webwork, Hibernate Annotations, etc). It makes full use of Java 5 Annotations. It favors convention over configuration, because configuration in XML/properties/annotations is always easy to make mistakes and repetitive (aka copy and paste in many places). This framework uses a more imperative approach, instead of having many XML files to configure lifecycle and other properties. Most of the settings go inside plain Java objects (POJO), so the team knows exactly what is going on and where.
JCons provides a library that bring color to your Java console. The Java console gives no methods to change the foreground or background color. With help of this library, one can make error messages red and success messages green, for example. Most Unix terminals can deal with ESC sequences, so they are used to make the Java console colorful.
The Spring Rich Client Project (RCP) is a sub-project of the Spring Framework. Spring-RCP's mission is to provide an elegant way to build highly-configurable, GUI-standards-following rich-client applications faster by leveraging the Spring Framework. It also provides a rich library of UI factories and support classes. Its initial focus is on providing support for Swing applications, but a goal of Spring-RCP is to be view agnostic as much as possible.
