auCDtect is a tool for analyzing the spectral characteristics of audio files and determining if they have been compressed with using codecs. It is useful for checking if a compact disc has been recorded using MP3 files or from an original source. Tests shows that it is more than 95% accurate.
wx12Ton helps one to work with music involving twelve-note series. In particular, it displays the 48 forms of a twelve-note series, and tests series for tonal phrases. In addition, wx12Ton allows the user to list the complete set of all twelve-note series which satisfy certain criteria.
AudioSlicer is a Cocoa GUI application that finds all silences in an audio file and allows you to split it into several smaller audio files and to name/tag them properly. While most other tools split automatically according to certain criteria, AudioSlicer shows you all silences within a certain range of duration. You can then listen and decide whether you want to split there. The splitting is done without loss; there is no decoding and re-encoding of audio data.
somaplayer is music player for MP3, Ogg, wav, audio CDs, MP3 streams, and Ogg streams. It is able to use the appropriate sound drivers or demons or to stream directly to an Icecast server (Icecast2 or SHOUTcast) or to encode in MP3 and Ogg Vorbis. It also acts as a sound daemon that is able to accept connections from other somaplayers or any other sound player (xmms, mpg123, and others) thanks to a special wrapper.
sauditor is a sample auditor that is intended to be simple and quick to use. It allows you to quickly and easily search for the sample you want. It features a curses interface, with no mousing required, and a toggleable X spectrum analyzer. The spectrum analyzer lets you see the frequencies present in your samples, which is handy if you want an idea of how much "space" the samples take up in the mix. It uses Jack for output, which allows you to connect filters to the output.
