Nyquist is an elegant and powerful language for sound synthesis and music composition. Unlike score languages that tend to deal only with events, or signal processing languages that tend to deal only with signals and synthesis, it handles both in a single integrated system. It is also flexible and easy to use because it is based on an interactive Lisp interpreter. You can design instruments by combining functions (much as you would using the orchestra languages of Music V, cmusic, or Csound). You can call upon these instruments and generate a sound just by typing a simple expression. You can combine simple expressions into complex ones to create a whole composition. It runs under any Unix environment, MacOS, Windows 95, and Windows NT, and it produces sound files as output (or direct audio output under Windows).
OCRFeeder is a document layout analysis and optical character recognition application. It is able to automatically outline a document image's contents, distinguish between graphics and text and perform OCR over the latter. It can export to several formats, its main one being ODT. OCRFeeder has a GTK+ graphical user interface that allows the user to control the application and, for example, edit and correct the automatic recognition. It can also be used from the command line for automation.
Open Sound World (OSW) is a scalable, extensible programming environment that allows musicians, sound designers, and researchers to process sound in response to expressive real-time control. It combines a familiar visual patching paradigm with solid programming language features such as a strong type system and hierarchical name spaces. OSW also includes an intuitive model for specifying new components using a graphical interface and high-level C++ expressions, making it easy to develop and share new music and signal processing algorithms.
PanBI is a collection of analytics modules for existing information systems. For each information system, it provides data extraction, transformation, and loading logic coupled with an OLAP schema, delivering OLAP functionality to an unprecedented user base. It extracts data from the source database, sets up a warehouse schema, loads the data into the warehouse, and has defined OLAP cubes. It does all this automatically for a one-click-run experience. Supported systems: dotProject, NesterSoft WorkTime, Subversion, and MantisBT (under development).
Pathomx is a workflow-based tool for the analysis of metabolomic and other omics datasets. It is interactive, visual, extensible, intelligent, and free for any use. It lets you dynamically build analysis workflows using the interactive editor. Drag and drop connections between plugin tools to create a complete workflow through which to run your analysis. Data can be loaded and processed automatically, and new approaches tested simply by connecting tools.
Pause determines the location of silences in an audio file for use in fragmentation of large recordings, studies of pause duration, and the like. It generates both a nicely formatted table intended to be read by people and a simple tab-delimited file that is easily parsed by software.
