The PEAK library tries to achieve high performance in combining multi-threading with an efficient I/O event model. You can write event-based applications that use massive sockets I/O, timers, and signals. Its underlying I/O multiplexing engine supports kqueue(2) (FreeBSD, NetBSD, and Mac OS X), epoll(2) (Linux 2.6), and /dev/poll (Solaris). It provides support for optimized memory allocations, basic database primitives, and synchronization.
The libstatgrab library provides an easy-to-use interface for accessing system statistics and information. Available statistics include CPU, Load, Memory, Swap, Disk I/O, and Network I/O. It was developed to work on Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris. The package also includes two tools: saidar provides a curses-based interface for viewing live system statistics, and statgrab is a sysctl-like interface to the statistics.
mGSTEP is a software development framework designed primarily for use in embedded devices. It implements the core elements of NeXT's OpenStep that evolved into Apple's Cocoa Objective-C class libraries. The drawing API is a partial implementation of Display Postscript in parallel with the newer Core Graphics API. The stable GUI (AppKit) is X11 based. A Linux framebuffer based GUI backend is also included.
makeself is a small shell script that generates a self-extractable compressed TAR archive from a directory. The resulting file appears as a shell script, and can be launched as is. The archive will then uncompress itself to a temporary directory and an arbitrary command will be executed (for example, an installation script). This is pretty similar to archives generated with WinZip Self-Extractor in the Windows world.
The mgetty package contains an intelligent getty for allowing logins over a serial line (such as through a modem) and receiving incoming faxes. The companion program sendfax is used for sending faxes from the commandline or from other applications. The third main component is vgetty/vm which can be used with a voice-capable modem to implement an answering machine, a voice menu system, and similar things.
mod_auth_aix is an Apache module which allows the Apache Web server to use AIX Loadable Authentication Modules as its source of basic authentication. Due to its generic approach, mod_auth_aix should work with any AIX Loadable Authentication Module, including DCE. "Loadable Authentication Modules" are AIX's way to extend the identification and authentication functions of the operating system. They are, to a certain degree, the AIX equivalent of the PAM and NSS mechanisms known to many other systems.
mod_vhs is an Apache 2.2+ Web server module allowing mass virtual hosting without the need for file-based configuration. The virtual host paths are translated from any database supported by mod_ldap or mod_dbd at request time from MySQL, LDAP, PAM, or a system password file. PHP security can be basically auto-configured from the database using this module. Requests are cached by mod_ldap when configured.
msmtp is an SMTP client with a sendmail compatible interface. It can be used with Mutt and other MUAs. It forwards messages to an SMTP server which does the delivery. Features include various SMTP AUTH methods, TLS/SSL-encrypted connections (including support for client certificates), support for multiple accounts, DSN, and IPv6 support.
myFriends is a small program for all of you who have an Apache WEB server and mySQL database running. It is an address list using a WEB interface. It maintains similar things to most address book tools, as well as family relationships. It will also store any number of dates, binary flags or plain text notes to each name. This version targets anyone who wishes to use a simple system and provides a starting point for learning these technologies.
ngIRCd is a portable IRC daemon written from scratch. It is easy to configure, supports server links (even with original ircds) and runs on hosts with changing IP addresses (such as dial-in networks). Currently supported platforms are AIX, A/UX, Darwin/Mac OS X, FreeBSD, HP-UX, IRIX, Linux, NetBSD, SunOS/Solaris, and Windows with Cygwin.
