Cactus is a general, modular, parallel environment for solving systems of partial differential equations. The code has been developed over many years by a large international collaboration of numerical relativity and computational science research groups and can be used to provide a portable platform for solving any system of partial differential equations.
Java Development Environment for Emacs (JDEE) is an Emacs-based integrated development environment (IDE) for developing Java applications and applets. Features include multiple code browsers, a JPDA-based debugger, method and field completion, template-based and procedure-based code generation, Java source code interpreter, context-sensitive help, and more.
Gri is an extensible plotting program designed for scientists. It can draw x-y plots, contour plots, and image plots, and has rudimentary programming capabilities. Output is PostScript. Gri is not mouse driven, nor GUI-based; it is a language. Users regard it as an analogue to the LaTeX document formatting language: users gain considerable power, at the price of a moderate learning curve.
Monetra is a scalable payment processing engine for Linux, Unix, and Windows. It is designed to handle credit, debit, gift, EBT, and check authorizations and is certified to support major clearing house protocols. Features include support for multiple modems, multiple merchant accounts, and multiple processors, all simultaneously -- as well as IP and SSL connectivity along side SQL database support. Designed in C, conforming to POSIX standards, and utilizing light weight processes (threads), this product is able to handle a large number of transactions with high speed and minimal CPU usage.
The mgetty package contains an intelligent getty for allowing logins over a serial line (such as through a modem) and receiving incoming faxes. The companion program sendfax is used for sending faxes from the commandline or from other applications. The third main component is vgetty/vm which can be used with a voice-capable modem to implement an answering machine, a voice menu system, and similar things.
The modular syslog allows for an easy implementation of input and output modules. The modules that mantain compatibility with its precursor are included in the standard distribution along with four modules: om_peo (an implementation of PEO-1 and L-PEO, two algorithmic protocols for integrity checking), om_mysql and om_pgsql (modules that sends output to a mysql and postgresql database, respectively) and om_regex (a module that allows output redirection using regular expressions).
