MeshLab is an open, portable, extensible system for the user-assisted processing of unstructured 3D meshes. The system is aimed to help the processing of 3D models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for cleaning and healing this kind of meshes. The system is heavily based on the VCG library developed at the Visual Computing Lab of ISTI - CNR, for all the core mesh processing tasks.
Sh is a programming language built on top of C++. It can be used to write shaders that run on top of modern graphics processing units (GPUs), or write stream programs that run on GPUs or CPUs. It is implemented as a C++ library, and allows programs to be generated at run-time using a number of metaprogramming techniques. Variants of programs for different cases can easily be generated, or programs can be generated entirely at run-time from some input data. The system is cleanly separated into a frontend and backend, and is hence portable.
Fraqtive is a multi-platform generator of the Mandelbrot family fractals. It uses very fast algorithms that support SSE2 and multi-core processors. It generates high quality anti-aliased images and renders 3D scenes using OpenGL. It allows real-time navigation and dynamic generation of the Julia fractal preview.
Voreen is a rapid application development framework for the interactive visualization and analysis of multi-modal volumetric data sets. It provides GPU-based volume rendering and data analysis techniques and offers high flexibility when developing new analysis workflows in collaboration with domain experts. The Voreen framework consists of a multi-platform C++ library, which can be easily integrated into existing applications, and a Qt-based stand-alone application.
The Interverse is the evolution and combination of the Web, chat, instant messaging (IM), and voice communication. It is not just a graphical user interface (GUI), but an immersive user interface (IUI). The Interverse is a virtual universe running on top of the Internet. It uses the Crystal Space 3D engine to render the user's view of the world.
Earth3D visualizes the earth in realtime in a 3D view. One can rotate and zoom the view and fly around. Additional data layers can be added to the view, e.g. country flags and names. It uses data from NASA, USGS, the CIA, and the city of Osnabrück. The data is loaded on demand over the Internet.
GL2PS is a C library providing high quality vector output for any OpenGL application. It uses sorting algorithms capable of handling intersecting and stretched polygons, as well as non manifold objects. It provides advanced smooth shading and text rendering, culling of invisible primitives, mixed vector/bitmap output, and much more. It can currently create PostScript (PS), Encapsulated PostScript (EPS), Portable Document Format (PDF), and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) files, as well as LaTeX files for the text fragments.
