Earth3D visualizes the earth in realtime in a 3D view. One can rotate and zoom the view and fly around. Additional data layers can be added to the view, e.g. country flags and names. It uses data from NASA, USGS, the CIA, and the city of Osnabrück. The data is loaded on demand over the Internet.
Aviascene is a virtual environment for remote exploration. Users can download actual earth topography and surface data from USGS, then go exploring. If they get lost, they can launch an aircraft to reconnoiter. It features a high- performance adaptive OpenGL terrain renderer, airplane and wheeled vehicle physics models, and the ability to mark waypoints at GPS coordinates. It can be used to plan a backpacking trip or just as a flight simulator.
KStereoScope is a simple OpenGL quad-buffered stereoscopic image viewer for KDE. Currently it does nothing but display 3D images (JPS/PNS) that are viewable only with LCD shutter glasses and a professional video card. Future releases will include support for anaglyphs and interleaved images.
DirectX support for Wine is a set of patches against Wine to implement DirectX 9. It allows modern games and 3D applications to run under Wine. The patches include many experimental and beta features that have not yet made it into the stable Wine source tree. The aim of the project is to provide full support for DirectX 8 and 9 so that all games and 3D applications will run on Linux or any other platform that Wine supports.
The Simulus Game Engine is a cross-platform, flexible, and easy-to-use game engine. It is capable of running on Windows and Linux and can support multiple APIs for rendering, audio, etc. It is built to be as flexible as possible to the advanced programmer while still maintaining ease of use for the beginning programmer. File formats are XML-based. It currently supports OpenGL rendering with meshes, lighting, texturing, scenes, cameras, and sprites.
vtkContainers is a container library for VTK. It provides list, deque, and vector sequence types; set, map, and hash map associative types; and stack, queue, and priority queue adaptor types. All container implementions except hash map are wrappers around an internal C++ STL type. Similar to a vtkCollection, all containers register objects on insertion, unregister them on removal, are wrappable into other languages, and are covered by a unit testing suite. vtkContainers also provides many unique capabilities, higher performance, and support for object level locking.
Balazar is a 3D adventure and roleplaying game which is the sequel to Arkanae. In the game's story, although the three Gods that created the world have been safely imprisoned in the magical crystal of Arkanae, new scepters have been reforged, giving birth to new Gods. The player must find the scepters and imprison the Gods in the Arkanae or free them forever by dropping the scepters in the Abyss. You'll have to find your way through the 7 worlds: the Echassian village, the Pompon forest, the great cathedral, the ice desert, the Arkanae citadel, the Abyss swamp and finally the Elven Forge.
