The Noble Ape Simulation is a collection of a number of autonomous simulation components including a landscape simulation, biological simulation, weather simulation, sentient creature (Noble Ape) simulation, and a simple intelligent-agent scripting language (ApeScript). Noble Ape also contains a social simulation where the Noble Apes can be tracked in terms of social groups and also over many generations to explain social phenomenon to users looking to study this kind of interaction. It has been in development for more than a fifteen years.
The Ape Base Compile System is a set of scripts that leverage ESP EPM and MREPO to maintain Red Hat based systems that require custom and secluded binaries. It achieves cross platform reproducible compiles applications like Apache HTTPD, MySQL, and PHP, supports a common --prefix parent directory to allow different versions of an application to be installed, provides an easy method to switch between application versions, places selected application binaries in a central "bin" directory, supports delivery via Yum and other common installers, and provides a method for non-compiled "skeleton" files to be included with installation and distribution.
Apetag is command line tagging tool for multimedia files such as Monkey's Audio and Musepack that use the APE 2.0 standard. It also comes with a script, tagdir, that will tag all the tracks in an album by invoking apetag or other similar tools (e.g. metaflac) for each track. All that is needed is the album's freedb record.
gnormalize is a utility that rips, normalizes, encodes, and converts audio files. It uses 'wavegain' to normalize wave files with the accurate gain_analysis.c code from ReplayGain. It decodes MP3, MP4 (or M4A or AAC), MPC (or MPP or MP+), OGG, APE, or FLAC files to wave, then normalizes the wave and re-encodes it. It can rip audio CDs, encode audio data, convert audio formats between MP3, MP4, MPC, OGG, APE, and FLAC, and change the encoding properties and edit meta info (like title, artist, album, etc.) of the final normalized files.
The Ad hoc Protocol Evaluation testbed is a small Linux distribution intended for the analysis of ad hoc networking environments. It is self-contained and pre-configured, and contains tools for data gathering at both the IP and ethernet level. It also has a scenario scripting system, which enables APE test runs to use movement choreography, with instructions to participants.
Peyote is an audio player with a friendly MC-like interface. It is designed specifically to work easily with cue sheets. It plays wv (wavepack), WAV, FLAC, APE, Ogg, WMA, and MP3 formats. It supports ID3v2, APEv2, FLAC, and Vorbis tags; multiple playlists; and tabs. It can copy, move, remove, and rename files.

The archive format is determined by the file(1) program and as a fallback by the archive file extension. patool supports 7z (.7z), ACE (.ace), ADF (.adf), ALZIP (.alz), APE (.ape), AR (.a), ARC (.arc), ARJ (.arj), bzip2 (.bz2), CAB (.cab), COMPRESS (.Z), CPIO (.cpio), deb (.deb), DMS (.dms), FLAC (.flac), gzip (.gz), ISO (.iso), LRZIP (.lrz), LZH (.lha, .lzh), LZIP (.lz), LZMA (.lzma), LZOP (.lzo), RPM (.rpm), RAR (.rar), RZIP (.rz), SHN (.shn), tar (.tar), XZ (.xz), zip (.zip, .jar), and ZOO (.zoo) formats. It relies on helper applications to handle those archive formats (for example bzip2 for BZIP2 archives). The archive formats tar, zip, bzip2, and gzip are supported natively and do not require helper applications to be installed.
AtariSIO is a Linux kernel driver module plus a small set of tools that implement the Atari 8-bit (400/600/800/XL/XE) computer series SIO protocol. The kernel driver handles the low-level parts and provides a simple interface for user space applications. This package contains two tools: atariserver, an Atari disk drive emulator (similar to SIO2PC or APE for MSDOS), and atarixfer, a tool to transfer disk images to/from a connected Atari disk drive.
