SchoolTool is a project to develop a common global school administration infrastructure that is freely available under an Open Source licence. The vision is to create a platform that is equally compelling for schools in First and Third World countries, that supports best practices in school administration, and that is readily customized to comply with local regulatory requirements. It is a Web application written in Zope 3.
Morena is a Java framework that allows a Java program to acquire an image from a scanner or camera. To communicate with the hardware, it uses standard interfaces: Twain for MS Windows and Mac OS X and Sane for a number of Unix platforms (AIX, BeOS, Darwin, FreeBSD, HP-UX, Linux, NetBSD, OpenBSD, OS2, Solaris, Unixware).
WREC controls an SCPI-programmable power supply (such as Agilent E3631A) to reform large aluminum electrolytic capacitors. It was written specifically for the Computer History Museum PDP-1 Restoration Project, but should be useful for reforming capacitors for almost any old equipment, even audio gear.
sigue is composed of tools that allow users to track progress of students in one or more subjects and to generate reports periodically. It is tailored to Colombian schools, and includes an interface in PHP to facilitate the grading process (for teachers), and scripts to print reports for parents in LaTeX.
Gentoo For Zaurus is a port of the Gentoo Distribution to the Zaurus PDA. It can be mounted over NFS so no changes to a current configuration are needed. It includes a native gcc environment for ARM, the zgcc-3.3.1 cross compiler for the main PC with distcc configured so that the main PC does the actual compiling, and X11 for testing applications.
