ClusterNFS is a set of patches for the "Universal NFS Daemon" (UNFSD) to allow multiple clients to nfs mount the same root filesystem by providing "tagged" filenames. When a client requests the file "/path/filename", the ClusterNFS server checks for the existence of files of the form "/path/filename$$TAG=value$$". If such a file exists and the client has a matching value for KEY, this file is returned. If the client does not have a matching value or no such file exists, the file request proceeds as normal. Currently supported keys include HOST (hostname), IP (IP number), CLIENT (matches any nfs client) and CREATE (for "tagged" creation of files).
Clustering is the idea of making several computers act as one for the purposes of either performance or reliability. The Clustering Daemon guarantees that a response will be serviced provided at least one cluster node is up. It runs as a userspace process and provides a large amount of flexibility.
The CloneIt system was created to copy and essentially clone harddisks of identical PCs through a network. This is a common task when installing server racks or farms or when updating a computer-lab setup where one deals with identical machines. The system software consists of a Linux boot floppy and a ramdisk floppy with minimal system utilities that can perform the task of copying the complete contents of disk devices through a network.
clockspeed uses a hardware tick counter to compensate for a persistently fast or slow system clock. Given a few time measurements from a reliable source, it computes and then eliminates the clock skew. sntpclock checks another system's NTP clock and prints the results in a format suitable for input to clockspeed. sntpclock is the simplest available NTP/SNTP client. taiclock and taiclockd form an even simpler alternative to SNTP. They are suitable for precise time synchronization over a local area network, without the hassles and potential security problems of an NTP server.
clo++ is a command line option parser generator. Given an XML file that contains a description of your program and its options, clo++ can generate code to parse its command line. In addition to code generation, clo++ can also generate man pages. Other languages and output formats can easily be added because clo++ generates its output using templates.
Clig uses a simple description file to create C-code to interprete the typical *NIX command line as well as an up-to-date usage-message and a manual page skeleton. It supports Flag, String, Int, Long, Float and Double types, with ranges, defaults, and more. The generated C-Code is ANSI but has been reported to work with C++. It is self contained code which does not depend on any library other than libc. Included is a TCL-only TCL-package to instrument your TCL scripts the same way as your C-programs.
