Xtraceroute is a graphical version of the traceroute program, which traces the route your IP packets travel to their destination. It displays the routes on a rotating globe, as a series of yellow lines between 'sites', shown as small balls of different colors.

Release Notes: This release shows the parts of the Earth which are currently lit by the sun, much like xplanet. It also works with more versions of host. Various code cleanups and bugfixes were also made.

NOTE: NetGeo has not been actively maintained for several years, and this will probably not change in the foreseeable future. As a result, there are several known major issues affecting accuracy and service availability. Please be warned that NetGeo may give wildly incorrect results, especially for recently allocated or re-assigned IP addresses.

thus i have made a bugfix to my netgeo patch, here it is:

What version of gtkglarea did you use to get 0.9.1 to
compile? I installed gtkglarea 1.99 (the most recent I could
find) but had massive compilation errors.

which is now gone, but gtkglarea is distributed by Fedora, at least. rpm --install gtkglarea-VERSION.rpm from the install CD.
I couldn't get the NetGeo patch to work against 0.9.1, though it's promised for the next minor release. Anxiously awaited...
