Release Notes: This release incorporated everything from MAME 0.99 and MESS 0.99. The SVGAlib target no longer fails silently under certain conditions and now handles __svgalib_tty_fd == -1, which allows it to work with newer releases of SVGAlib. A few man page and documentation updates were made.
Release Notes: In this release, forcing Xv to use YV12 ("-force-yuv 2") no longer causes rotated games to segfault. A bug in the OpenGL display target that could cause the bitmap to be skewed for some games, such as sfrush, was fixed, the hotkey effect switching now works again for MESS consoles, the aspect ratio of the MESS SuperVision driver was fixed so that it's quadratic, and a setting was added to the Makefile to disable effects.
Release Notes: Various new video effects have been added. It is now in sync with MAME 0.55.
Release Notes: Many new arcade games are supported. This release is synchronised with the original win32 MAME.
Release Notes: Inclusion of MESS 0.37b11, full DGA 2.0 support with automatic depth-switching (a build on an XFree86 4.0.x system will automatically use the DGA 2.0 calls; if the binary with 2.0 support is run on an XFree86 3.3.x system, it will fall back on DGA 1.0 calls), support for either NetBSD or OSS sound under OpenBSD (default is the NetBSD sound interface, which reportedly works better), a cleaner install mechanism in the makefiles, an install-sh script from X11R5 for platforms which lack the install command (the default install prefix is now "/usr/local"), SDL mouse support, addition of all previously missing update routines to the SDL target, and a -joydevname/-jdev option to select the device prefix for the i386 joystick (defaults to "/dev/js" for Linux and "/dev/joy" for *BSD).
