XLassie is like XBiff but smarter. It can query POP and IMAP servers, as well as use a local mail spool. It counts your new messages and displays the number in a window. It is written in straight Xlib and uses less memory and CPU than plain xbiff, and much less than other fancy mailcheckers. It also has additional support for the KDE and WindowMaker applet protocols.
Release Notes: Docking inside both the KDE 2.x system tray and the KDE 1.x panel, a new feature to run a command when new mail arrives, fixes for the IMAP code, support for maildir-style mailboxes, and trying a list of fonts looking for one you have.
