XFMail is an X11 application for receiving electronic mail. It implements most of its email functionality internally so that it does not depend on a lot of extra packages. It supports POP3, MBOX, IMAP4, sendmail, and SMTP. It has built-in support for interfacing with PGP, GPG, ispell/aspell, faces, LDAP, and esound. It runs on most Unix variants.

Release Notes: The packaging and configuration have changed to allow building without having to run autogen.sh. A lot of bugfixes and feature enhancements were made, including improved IMAP response string handling, improved folder sorting, Euro display support, URL highlighting in headers, and a default "To:" header for folders. The program now avoids saving invalid window geometries, and crashes which occurred on specific message sizes were fixed.

Is XFMail still under development?
I haven't found any new source release for a long time.
I even emailed Gennady, but got no answer.
BTW: Wouldn't it be great to port it to GTK+?
