X-Chat is a fully-featured graphical IRC client using the GTK toolkit. Optionally it can be compiled to use GNOME and Perl scripting.

Release Notes: The /set command was enhanced, and a crash was fixed. The behavior of the search window was improved. Scrollback performance was improved. Content in the nick menu can now be copied to the clipboard. New icons were added to the notification area (system tray) for various events. The Perl interface was enhanced. New networks were added. Many minor bugs were fixed.

Slow new text widget
The new text widget is a good idea, and I like it - except that it's so slow. Specifically it needs to redraw a lot faster, as fast as the normal GTK widget, if it's not to be a real annoyance.

Fails to compile on Solaris
This version (1.3.8) fails to compile on solaris with a setenv.o error.
