Re: Is freshmeat the right place for irc scripts?
I might *almost* agree with you, except for 2 things:

            1. There are 2 subscriptions to this in 2 days.
            2. The freshmeat crew, having already added it, made that decision

The fact is, freshmeats' audience is not limited to one particular core group, Not everyone uses php, not everyone uses irc, not everyone uses tcl (specifically tcl scripts for eggdrop) and yet, they are all here. You mention xchats' website..is there NOT a 100 places to make php scripts available? Or eggdrop tcls? Or shell scripts? Why yes, there are, however freshmeat probably gets the biggest audience.
I promise I will not be offended if you decided to skip over my listing if you happen to see it again :)

            Have a great day,

PS: This is, btw, a perl script, used within xchat, which is an irc client.

Is freshmeat the right place for irc scripts?
Hmmm, I dont think freshmeat.net is the right place to announce all the 1000s of irc scripts for 1000s of irc clients.

XChat has an own script listing on its webpage www.xchat.org (www.xchat.org) and I think xchat scripts should be announced there. Only there.

            Name taken
"xsysinfo" is a different program already included
            with many Linux distributions.
You may want to come up with another name for your
            script to avoid confusion.
