Version 1.1.4.4 of Whois Proxy

Release Notes: A Whois Server for .ORG is now obtained from whois.pir.org. New whoislist information was incorporated, borrowed from Marco d'Itri's whois. URLs and comments are now displayed for TLDs that do not provide a whois service, but that are responsible for the TLD. wp-install-doc.html was added. acladmin.cgi now supports ranges of IP addresses. An option to specify your stylesheet was also added.

Release Notes: This release fixed a bug in wp_config.cgi that prevented it from launching and added a tweak to get complete information from whois.denic.de. There were also several other fairly minor fixes.

Release Notes: WP Whois Proxy is now i18n-compatible. Translations are included for French, German, Vietnamese, and English. More UTF-8-encoded languages can be added. Optionally, results caching (via File::Cache) should lighten the load on both your server and the whois server. wp 1.3.1 is smarter at finding referral servers and the first n-th level domain name that will resolve. whoislist and ZapTrash.config were updated. Numerous other smaller improvements were made.

Release Notes: This release adds improved IP number lookups (especially at whois.ARIN.net) and improved .ORG lookups through pir.org. Searches are both more efficient and more accurate.

Release Notes: Since the last Freshmeat announcement (v1.1.4.4) most functions have been rewritten, making WP faster, more efficient, and more secure. Features include a new zero-maintenance access-control that throttles badbots, XSS attack prevention, better preservation of servers' formatting, enhanced whoislist, and an expanded ZapTrash list (70+ verbose servers known). The latest tweaks always available in CVS. WP is now known to work out of the box on Windows with Apache and ActiveState Perl.
