Release Notes: This version introduces the concept of Transparent AJAX, which unburdens the application developer from the complexity of asynchronous replication of conversational state between client and server. The utilization of AJAX is completely hidden behind the wingS API. Even custom components written against the wingS 2 API immediately profit from the incremental page update mechanism.
Release Notes: This release is binary and source compatible with wingS 2.1. Just drop in the new jars and experience the much improved responsiveness and usability of a modern Web UI. The usage of AJAX is completely transparent to the application developer. The wingS core tracks all modifications to the component model and reflects them incrementally on the client.
Release Notes: This is primarily a bugfix release, though several improvements and new features are included as well. In order to make the transition from wingS 2.1 to the first AJAX-ified version of wingS as smooth as possible, some core concepts have been aligned with the refined architecture from the AJAX branch already.
Release Notes: While 2.1 is primarily a bugfix release, several new features and improvements are included as well. The generated HTML codesize has been greatly reduced. Rendering is much faster, and many layout issues have been tackled.
Release Notes: This version featured a completely rewritten rendering subsystem focusing on optimal stylability via CSS and new features like drag and drop support, context menu server- side code execution (through AJAX), highly flexible dynamic layout managers, tooltips, and handling of browser back navigation.
Release Notes: This release featured CGs implemented in Java, a new JDK 1.5-like component popup menu, and server-side key event listeners and suppression of default bindings. WingSet now includes Dynamic Layout examples. PLaF for Gecko is nearing completion, but PLaf for IE remains to be done. dwr integration was implemented for server-side formatters and dynamic models. Focus management was added and JSP integration was improved. A structure and design separation was achieved using HTML and CSS. TreeCG, TabbedPaneCG, TableCG, MenuCG, and all Button subclasses were rewritten. Support for preferred sizes was added. The layout managers were rewritten.
Release Notes: The API has been stabilized so that no more API changes are expected before 1.0 final release. Rendering has been improved in a way that allows more HTML-Attributes to be set programatically or from the template layout. With a factory pattern, you can create PLAF (Pluggable Look and Feel) and output encodings (such as gzipped output streams) on demand, depending on the browser. Many bugs have also been fixed.
