VMware ESX VCB Backup

VMware ESX VCB Backup is a script that makes it possible to back up VMs automatically using different schedules. The backup is set up using key words in the VMs annotations. A backup can be made just once or on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The grace period of the backups can be set to whatever your storage capacity allows. The script is run through cron or manually. The backup script comes with a restore script that provides a small menu to make restoring a backed up VM quite easy.

Release for ESXi delayed 11 Jan 2012 08:11

I have some trouble with the cleanup functions, so the release for ESXi will be delayed :( For some reason the host touches the backup directories frequently which makes it impossible to use "find -mtime" to clean up the old backups... have to debug this.

version 2.3 is on the way, with production/backup LUN auto-detection.
it takes some time and is quite tricky as the esx3.5 bash is only bash2 and vsphere bash is v3.2 without associative arrays and stuff...expect a messy workaround :D
