Release Notes: This is a major release after almost 3 years work. Performance and scalability have been greatly improved: compared to the 7.10 series, VIPS is about twice as fast on complex operations and can use as little as half the memory. Scaling to many CPUs is far better: this version runs about 27x faster on a 32-CPU computer. Other new features include image metadata support, large workspace support, integrated matrix and plot display, background recalculation, and many new operations.
