Userful MultiSeat is a multiseat Linux desktop virtualization solution that enables a single computer to support up to 11 independent users at the same time, each with their own monitor, keyboard, and mouse by using USB multiseat devices, and virtualizing the X server. This approach offers the features of a full PC including high performance video and significantly reduces hardware costs, support and maintenance costs, electricity consumption, and e-waste as compared to stand alone PCs or thin clients. It installs on popular Linux distributions including Ubuntu and Edubuntu (operating system for schools). It supports 3D graphics, per-seat USB, 2-way audio, and all major USB multiseat devices, including the HP t100, t150 & t200, Acer Zero-Client Docking Station, Viewsonic VMA10, Atrust M200 & M202, GWC DU2600, and Displaylink devices, as well as video cards from Intel, ATI, and NVIDIA. Userful MultiSeat is available as both a standalone package for multi-seat enabling your Linux distribution of choice, and as a bundled install DVD for schools, which Includes Userful MultiSeat, Edubuntu operating system for education, and the ITALC classroom management tool. Release Notes: There have been a number of major improvements to Userful MultiSeat 4.1 since its Beta Release. USB multiseat device hotplugging is more stable. The User Administration Tool can work properly even if UMs is enabled. This release supports DVI output mode. Numerous bugfixes have been implemented. Performance is improved with a properly loaded driver patch to improve the video performance when using SiliconMotion video cards. Usability has been improved with new icons in the system tray, as well as the removal of redundant error messages when changes to resolutions are made in Userful Control Center.
Release Notes: This major release includes new features and many bugfixes. It supports shared resource computing using both USB multiseat devices and video cards. The System Tray now handles USB storage devices. Security has improved. The stability of USB multiseat device hotplugging has improved. Device assignment is now more stable when running more than eight stations. The Userful Control Center is now more robust and functions well when there's no network connection. Audio output has improved.
Release Notes: Additional USB MultiSeat devices are now supported, including the HP T150 (with power adapter), Atrust M200 & M202 (with power adapter), and the GWC DU2600 (with power adapter, only up to 9 stations). Several usability issues related to the absence of a network connection have been resolved. A number of bugfixes in the DisplayLink chipset driver have been implemented. A new MCT chipset driver with improved stability has been integrated.
Release Notes: There have been major improvements since the recent Beta release. Support for 32-bit Ubuntu 10.04 has been added. A serious problem was fixed with the Ubuntu GDM package for 32-bit systems. The Linux kernel was patched to better support systems with 10 or more stations. All GUI elements have undergone changes for usability. iTALC integration was enhanced. All key GUI elements now support these languages: English, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, and Korean. USB multiseat device hotplugging is more stable. Numerous bugs have been fixed.
Release Notes: This is the first official release of Userful's next-generation Userful Multiseat software. Advantages of the new architecture include improved performance, improved support for a wider array of USB devices using both DisplayLink and MCT chipsets, improved USB keyboard and audio device handling to allow more stations to work effectively on one computer, support for USB-connected station hotplugging, and support for 3D graphics.
