I visited schools in Donets'k and Kharkiv, Ukraine back in late 2004. Over at Donetsk Christian University they ran a Microsoft shop. I informed them about the freely available open source alternatives. They seemed very receptive, but my time was limited and I haven't been back since. Regardless of what software the university uses, I think the Ubuntu Christian Edition might be of interest judging by their emphasis on theological studies. I haven't done so yet, but I'll probably send one of the staffers an email (I still have their business card) and see what they think about it. If you're interested their website is here (http://www.dcu.donbass.com).
The other university located in Kharkiv was more secular IIRC and was a little larger. I only spent a couple hours there. Since my main task was to videotape presentations (which I believe were all PowerPoint), there was only limited time left for conversation. I took a train back to Kiev with my group.

It is not a joke. You may want to use the forums (click the Developer link) to ask if it is suitable for the schools (language translations etc.). What OS are they currently running?
Millions now living will never die ...
... or was that a title for a Tortoise album? :)
With all the millions of Christians on this planet, how dare you gear a Linux distribution towards such a large and diverse group? What's next an Islamic edition? All sarcasm and kidding aside, I hope this is no joke. I know some Christian schools in Ukraine, that might have an interest in this. Not to mention the millions of Christians already living in America.
Will this work for Lutherans as well as Conservative evangelicals? Can this version serve as a base where I can remove all the aspects which expect women to be like Donna Reed for more, of say, a Garrison Keeler style (where the women are strong, the men are good looking and the children are ... above average)? Just curious.
