Re: Getting TransluXent to work with a window manager
if i try to run it as a xserver i have a Segmentation Fault.

    also ...

    e4m@twotux e4m$ export DISPLAY=localhost:3.0 & fluxbox -display :3 & /home/e4m/transluXent-0.01/transluXent :3 -alpha 0.6 +kb -wm -full-swaps -backbuffer safe -a

it start but after execution of any applications. TransluXent crash!

    Translucentcy failed...
I use the command 'transluXent :1 -alpha 0.6 +kb -wm -full-swaps -backbuffer safe -ac -x RENDER', it loads up, but its shows up as a grainy screen with an x where my mouse pointer is, kinda like when you open some Window Managers or desktop environments at first. My window manager is Window Maker, slackware 9.1, I could use some advise, thanks, Stratis.

Yes, I have gotten it to work perfectly in window mode, but not with -fullscreen parameter using the keyboard - only mouse works. I saw that all I type is typed from the xterm I started in the background. The transluXent server doesn't get the keyboard focus when it is in fullscreen started from an xterm. Perhaps it works great if you invoke it with XDMCP, haven't tried that yet. I use it perfectly with WindowMaker (binary file is named wmaker). This is how I start it, from a start.sh file:

    ./transluXent :1 -alpha 0.6 +kb -wm full-swaps -backbuffer safe -ac -x RENDER

the 0.6 value is the transparency effect. You can change it within your needs of course. If you add "-fullscreen" you will get it in fullscreen, but like I told you, this doesn't work with keyboard input from an xterm at least. Perhaps with X broadcasting stuff. To start windowmaker, export it:
    export DISPLAY=localhost:1.0
    wmaker&

then you should be good to go.

Getting TransluXent to work with a window manager
    Hey all!

I have TRIED to get this to work...I start with:
    transluXent :1
after starting xinit with exec blackbox in my .xinitrc. I can get a blank window, but no windoer manager. I've tried transluXent :1 -ac -display :1 and transluXent :1 -ac followed blackbox -display :1 and I just get errors. Has ANYONE gotten a window manager to work with this? Thanks!
