Orpheus is a text-mode menu- and window- driven audio player application for CDs, Ogg, MP3, and Internet stream broadcasts. It can retrieve CDDB information for compact discs with HTTP (even through a proxy), read ID tags from MP3 and Ogg files, and save and load playlists. The color schemes are configurable.

Release Notes: This release converts from utf-8 for OGG tracks and supports Internet radio. Broadcasts can now be added to the playlist along with the other items. For the initial stations directory, the presets directory from the screamer-radio project is used.
Release Notes: The libiconv link problem should be fixed. Sorting of the option list was extended so that it has file name, track name, track length, and last modified (date) parameters. Bit rate and frequency are displayed (read-only obviously) for the track information in the "edit tags" dialog. A running instance of orpheus can be controlled from the command line using the --remote (-r) parameter. When in random play mode, the next track command (+) goes not to the next on the list, but to a random track.
Release Notes: The file ~/.orpheus/currently_playing is now created during playing of tracks, which makes it possible for other applications to easily find out which music is playing. A bug in the mixer dialog is fixed: while adjusting the volume on the right channel, it completely muted the left one. When resizing the terminal window in X-Window, orpheus no longer starts playing from the beginning of the list. Search through play list function and play list sorting were implemented. A bug that resulted in displaying the length of some MP3 tracks incorrectly has been fixed.
Release Notes: Space can be now used to pause playing. The ability to skip more playing time forward and backward has been added. Auto-play behavior has been added; when enabled in the configuration dialog, it will start playing whenever possible, either on adding new files or loading playlists. Xterm support has been improved. The window is now resized on xterm resizing, and if you specify the "-xt" commandline parameters, track titles are shown in the window title bar. An internal mixer controller has been added; it's possible to invoke it with the "m" key.
Release Notes: In this version, a nifty feature was added that is aimed to ease the playlists management. It's called the recent playlists directory and can be invoked with Tab. It also fixes a problem where the file manager in "add files" and "load/save playlist" dialogs used to behave strangely, skipping over directories when going to upper directory. Sudden hangups during playing Ogg files have been fixed. Some bugs related to Ogg tags editing were also fixed.
