Release Notes: The psychoacoustic models have been overhauled. Four new models are available for testing (-1, 0, 3 and 4). The bitstream encoder has been rewritten. Psy models 2 and 4 have been given a speed boost by using tables for the trig functions.

Release Notes: The 4GB limit on the size of data read from stdin was removed. The end of the bitstream is now fixed such that two mp2 files can be concatenated together. The DAB extensions now require an explicit size argument. Fixes to the psycho_1 model have hopefully stopped the crashing/segfaulting in this mode. A combined window/filter subband has given a speed boost. Reading of raw PCM files is now fixed to no longer skip the first 40 bytes.

Release Notes: VBR mode is now stable for all input files. WAVE parsing has been fixed again. Minor speedups have been added to psy models 1 and 2. A verbosity switch '-t' has been added. MPEG-2LSF now works with psy model 2, and has been fixed to pick a valid default bitrate.

  •  13 Jul 2001 11:23

Release Notes: DAB extensions were added. A switch to swap input channels was added. MPEG-2 Lower Sampling Frequency (LSF) is now working much better.

Release Notes: The executable now stands alone (all required tables have been included in the binary). A switch to force byte-swapping was added to 'solve' endian issues.
