TI-RPC Library

On GNU Linux, the current library used to do remote procedure calls is the Sun RPC, which has a main problem: it is designed only for TCP and UDP over IPv4 transports, and cannot work with IPv6 sockets, for example The TI-RPC library is implemented as a standalone package. After compilation, the library is installed under /usr/lib/ and the includes under /usr/include/tirpc/. An /etc/netconfig configuration file allows the administrator to specify what protocols are supported by the RPCs. In this way, support for TCP and UDP protocols over IPv6 can be added or removed by uncommenting / commenting the appropriate lines in the configuration file.
