TextMaker is a word processor that launches quickly, needs little memory, does not require complicated setup, and has the full feature set of a modern high-end word processor. It reads and writes Microsoft Word 6/95/97/2000/XP, and Word 2003 files, and is available for Linux, Sharp Zaurus, and FreeBSD.

    Release Notes: This version adds OpenDocument (ODF) export, improves the OpenDocument import filters, updates the Microsoft Word import and export filters, and provides some bugfixes and minor feature enhancements.

      Release Notes: This release fixed all reproducible bug reports and improved speed and the filters for OpenDocument and MS Word .doc formats.

        Release Notes: This new beta release improves startup on some distributions (mainly SUSE). In addition to file systems running in UTF8 and ANSI, it now fully supports KOI8-R based file systems. Also, it features bugfixes and performance improvements.

          Release Notes: This is a totally new release with many features added, such as OpenDocument import, AutoShapes support, TextArt, tracked changes, comments in balloons, full Unicode support, cross-references, a bibliography function, objects anchored to paragraphs, contour wrap around objects, free rotation of objects, viewing support for OLE objects, drastically improved filters for Microsoft Word and RTF, and much more. TextMaker 2006 is now, together with the PlanMaker 2006 spreadsheet, part of the SoftMaker Office 2006 suite. There is also a FreeBSD version, requiring FreeBSD 5.2 or higher.

            Release Notes: This release now fully supports high-resolution (480*640 pixels) screens of modern Zauri, features improved Microsoft Word filters (TextMaker-generated Word files can now also be read by Word for Macintosh), and comes with the latest batch of bugfixes.
