Release Notes: Support for two new platforms (z/OS V1.4+ and Windows Server 2003), more support in the FS service for copying/getting text files (including line-ending and codepage conversion), and fixes for some codepage conversion problems. STAF now uses InstallShield MultiPlatform 5.0. A new STAF Service Developer's Guide is provided which describes how to create STAF services, and includes the implementation of a sample service in both Java and C++.
Release Notes: This release adds support for dynamically adding and removing services, Service Loader Services which allow services to be loaded on demand, a default service loader, STAFDSLS, which dynamically loads the Log, Monitor, and ResPool services when needed, and the ability to specify a shell to use when starting a process, as well as the default shell. The usability of Java services has been enhanced. STAFProc has been updated to do a proper shutdown. STAFDemo is more self-contained. Python, Perl, and TCL build information has been added to the Developer's Guide.
Release Notes: This release fixes a Java service jar class loader, "JVM not found" bug during the jar file ISMP installation, ISMP installation exceptions when using Blackdown's Java, Jar installation failure on Windows XP with Java 1.4, and problem tracing to STDERR. The timeout when shutting down STAF has been decreased. This release provides the ability to specify a shell to use when starting a process, and to specify a default shell to use via the STAF.cfg file.
Release Notes: The install now uses multi-platform InstallShield. Support for Windows XP and IRIX has been added. AIX support has been extended from 4.3.3+ to 4.2.1+. There are new options to the File System service, including providing directory create, enumerate, and delete. Support has been added for shell commands and returning stdout, stderr, and arbitrary text files when a process completes. Performance on Windows has been increased by 20%.
