Release Notes: This release adds default theme to initramfs so that it can fall back in case of problems with a newer theme. It fixes a font problem with libdirectfb. It fixes an LSB script issue that prevented some applications from installing correctly if Splashy was removed/missing (MySQL server, etc.). There are no major C changes, and there are minor bugfixes.

  •  30 Oct 2008 00:01

Release Notes: This release closes a number of bugs from bugs.debian.org/splashy that also apply to other distributions. It fixes problems with uswsusp and problems with kdm. There are no major C changes, mostly scripts.

  •  27 Jul 2008 07:39

Release Notes: chroot() was implemented as a command passed from splashy_update. This works better with resume-from-RAM/Disk when uswsusp is used from initramfs. It is suggested to run update-initramfs -u when a theme is changed with splashy_config. The boot dependency argument $all was removed from the initrc script (for LSB). The cursor in TTY consoles was turned off to avoid showing artifacts when X starts. Other bugs were fixed.

  •  29 May 2008 12:37

Release Notes: Many bugs were fixed. Splashy now works better with encrypted hard disks (LUKS) and getstring/getpass prompts early at boot. Issues with the progress bar during shutdown were fixed. lsb-base-logging.sh LSB functions are now a bit more complete. TTYs are now cleared properly whenever Splashy is about to exit. Display managers are now detected better (gdm, kdm, xdm).

  •  27 Feb 2008 04:07

Release Notes: A Hungarian translation and a Brazilian Portuguese translation were added. More checks at initramfs were added to ensure Splashy can be started. Other bugs were fixed in scripts.

    •  26 Dec 2007 13:58

Release Notes: /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh now checks whether it should unmount $STEPS_DIR before doing so. /etc/lsb-base-logging.sh now checks whether it should start keymap.sh/console-screen.sh on Debian systems. console-tools/config.d/splashy touches /dev/shm/splashy* files to signal lsb-base-loggin.sh that it needs to start a process like keymap.sh/console-screen.sh.

    •  09 Dec 2007 06:32

Release Notes: All static builds were dropped in favor of shared libraries. If your distribution does not support initramfs shared binaries, or you are using Splashy from a thin-client server, you will need to re-enable static linking on your own. Please refer to configure.ac and src/Makefile.am. Text can be scrolled during boot. International support was added.

    •  18 Oct 2007 00:32

Release Notes: Documentation updates were made. Support for OpenSuSE/Fedora and other RPM-based systems was added. Splashy now works with Directfb 1.x. Splashy runs from initramfs under Init again (upstart works just like before). Themes are now in /usr/share/splashy/themes and a symlink from /etc/splashy/themes points to that location.

    •  08 Dec 2006 21:25

Release Notes: Notes: * Minor bug fix: This release fixed problems where lsb-base-logging.sh and splashy-update-progress-steps needed RUNLEVEL to be defined and where splashy-update-progress-steps had a problem when scripts did not all log_end_msg before the progress bar reached 100%. /lib/splashy is now created as it is needed by the initrc scripts. A script to prevent console-screen.sh from running was included.

    •  07 Jun 2006 08:30

Release Notes: This version adds support for initrd/initramfs, animations (gif), fade effects, reverse progress, and a configurable border color. Dependencies were reduced to a bare minimum. Lots of bugfixes and other features were added.
