Server optimized Linux

SoL (Server optimized Linux) is a Linux distribution completely independent from other Linux distributions. It was built from the original source packages and is optimized for heavy-duty server work. It contains all common server applications, and features XML boot and script technology that makes it easy to configure and make the server work.

SoL does not contain these desktop-applications. They are in the desktop-extension to SoL, called SoL-desktop, for people who want to use SoL as workstation/desktop and don't want to get the packages or use another distribution. I use SoL-desktop on top of SoL, for example.

Its an add-on package for SoL 16.00. Its NOT a standalone distribution! SoL-desktop was made because the SoL community requested it and antitachyon was so nice and developed it.

            Applications not server orientated
I was bit suprised that "Server Optimised Linux" has now got applications like kde / gnome / mp3 encoders / gimp etc. Surely those are applications for a desktop enviroment, and not for a server?
