Projects / SnortSMS

SnortSMS is a highly configurable sensor management system that provides the ability to remotely administer Snort [and Barnyard] based Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), push configuration files, add/edit rules, and monitor system health and statistics, all from a simple and clean Web interface console. Whether you have one or multiple Snort sensors, it can help unify and syncronize all sensor configurations.

Release Notes: A major rewrite of the Sensor Agent was done. PHP is now used instead of Perl. A Web Portal listener is now used to access the agent functions. This eliminates the dependency on Webmin and Perl on the Sensor. The remote agent was rewritten as a PHP-based Web script. SnortSMS Collector was updated to handle the new agent format.

Release Notes: The HTTP proxy option was added to curl for those who might need that to import snapshots from the Web. Release Notes: Several database changes have occurred. These consist of mostly Column and Table additions (no deletions or renaming). Therefore, your data integrity should stay intact. To upgrade your existing database, a mysql delta script has been supplied, which will create the additional Tables and Columns. An update of the SnortSMS Agent (Webmin Module) is required. This version of SnortSMS must be used with version 1.1.2 of the Agent.

Can anyone tell me if mySQL5 will work for this? Also, how about PHP5?

I have a feeling that the mysql won't be an issue but I think the PHP5 might cause some headaches.

any confirmation would help me a whole bunch.. Thanks!
