Release Notes: A fix for the RSS file generation code to use $slogan and $rdfimg in slashdotrc.pl (added $rdfimg variable to Slash.pm and slashdotrc.pl), new code to include "Read More" links in extra box below articles in public_html/index.pl, sql/predata_dump.pl strips newline from hostname and accepts optional hostname on command line, and lots of INSTALL changes, including the addition of INSTALL.debian and the TimeDate Perl distribution, more information about installing Perl modules, which ones to use, where to install them, etc., a step to create /etc/apache.listen, and an extra admonition to change passwords and run mysqld in GMT.

Release Notes: Many tables are cached locally in Apache to reduce SQL calls. Mass moderation. Customizable homepage. Skinable look and feel by the sysadmin. A plethora of default Slashboxes to get you started. Highly configurable sections, including Look & Feel, and extension tables for extra fields (like the ISBN code fields used in the authors table for example). Note passing system for authors in submissions. Much of the site is remotely administratable with complicated but efficient Web forms.
