        Release Notes: In addition to the normal bugfixes and new platform support, SDL 1.1.7 is the pre-release for SDL 1.2, the next stable SDL release. This means that only bug fixes will be accepted between now and SDL 1.2.

            Release Notes: New HTML and man documentation from the SDL Documentation Project, an API for gamma correction (not supported on all hardware), improved YUV video overlay support, split display palettes to allow color cycling while blitting, lpha now works like it does in OpenGL (representing opacity), Alpha blending can now take advantage of RLE acceleration, use of the dynamic MS Visual C in the Windows version, lots of improvements to the MacOS port, a Carbon cleanup, and initial work on MacOS X, AmigaOS, and NetBSD ports.

              Release Notes: Fixes for some problems with OpenGL on Windows, implementations of resizable windows and fullscreen toggling on BeOS, and lots of other miscellaneous improvements.

                Release Notes: Official IRIX and FreeBSD support and DrawSprockets support on MacOS were added. There is now also experimental DGA 2.0 hardware support and support for resizable windows and stretchable YUV overlays. Other changes include improved default GCC optimization flags, condition variables and semaphores, much faster RLE accelerated colorkey blits, much faster alpha blending blit routines, and lots of minor bugfixes and improvements.
