Schrödinger is an implementation of the Dirac video codec, a modern wavelet-based video codec. It features both an encoder and a decoder and GStreamer plugins. Mappings have also been developed for putting Dirac into both the Ogg container format and the MPEG Transport stream container format.

    Release Notes: The encoder default was changed to constant quality, quality=5.0. Several encoding and decoding bugs were fixed in the GStreamer elements and base classes. Starting/stopping of worker threads was fixed. Recent threading changes were ported to all backends. Invalid clean areas in the sequence header are now sanitized. Protection was added against unexpected backwards skips of the picture number. Dangling fields at EOS are discarded. There were also various other fixes.

    Release Notes: The encoder speed has been increased 3x, and the image quality produced by the encoder has also been improved.

    Release Notes: This is the first ABI stable and 100% bitstream specification compliant version.

    Release Notes: This release is mostly in sync with latest version of the Dirac specification. The encoding parameter defaults have also been improved to give a much better result when transcoding files. A lot of work has been done to allow encoding to a specified bitrate. Be aware that the Dirac bitstream specification is still being revised, so the files created with this version are not likely to work with future versions of this and other Dirac decoders.

    Release Notes: This is the first release that should be fully compliant with the Dirac bitstream specification. With the included GStreamer plugins users should be easily able to encode and decode Dirac media.
