Samba TNG is a tiny SMB/CIFS suite (server, client, and utilities) for Unix-like operating systems. This software is concentrating on MSRPC interoperability with Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista, 2003, and 2008. Windows 7 support is in progress. It provides PDC support and tools to remotely administer NT servers and workstations.

Release Notes: This release-candidate includes lots of SMB/CIFS compliance and MSRPC/Domain improvements to raise compatibility with 64-bit editions of Windows. The client tools, especially rpcclient, got new features and experimental support for running them on Win32. This RC also offers many bug and security fixes.
Release Notes: This pre-release for 0.5 includes some security updates (CAN-2004-0686, CAN-2004-0815, and CAN-2004-0930). The documentation is undergoing a major rework for 0.5. The SMB fileserving part of Samba-TNG now defaults to NTSTATUS, supports Unicode on the wire, and is actively developed. Steady progress on support for Windows/ReactOS is happening in the Portability corner. This release fixes many bugs and adds some small enhancements.
