Release Notes: This version was released on April 30, 2001. This is the first release in the 1.4 Stable tree. It includes Linux kernel 2.4.3, XFree86 4.0.3, GNOME 1.4, the alsa-driver package, and initial support for PAM. Many other improvements were made since the previous stable release.
