    Release Notes: This release includes the first introduction of new threading technology: NPTL (Native POSIX Thread Library). Several core components were upgraded: Linux kernel 2.4.20, GCC 3.2.1, GNU libc 2.3 (with NPTL), and a Web server powered by Apache 2.0.

      Release Notes: This release features Bluecurve, a conveniently organized, user-friendly desktop with numerous graphical enhancements and icons. It also includes OpenOffice.org and configuration tools for system services and settings including firewalls, peripherals, Apache, and networks. Apache, the C compiler, tool chain, and the kernel were also updated.

              Release Notes: Lots of bugfixes and updates were made. Important packages upgrades include Kernel 2.4.6+patches (with ext3 support), KDE 2.2pre, GNOME 1.4, and XFree86 4.1.0.

                Release Notes: General system improvements include Itanium(tm) architecture support, various installer improvements and fixes, including basic firewall configuration, disabling of services by default on workstation installs, fully integrated Japanese support, and a graphical kickstart configuration program. Hardware support was expanded to include Improved USB, IDE UltraDMA 66/100, IEEE1394 (FireWire(tm)), ATM networking, WiFI wireless ethernet cards, and ESS Maestro3 and newer Crystal audio cards. System service changes include a new network-transparent configuration subsystem, and configuration tools for BIND, Apache, and printing.

                  Release Notes: This release adds OpenSSL with 128-bit encryption for secure Web communication, 2.4 kernel readiness, USB support for mice and keyboards, XFree 4.0.1 for improved video performance, a cleaner, faster, more customizable GNOME desktop and Sawfish window manager, a graphical kernel tuning tool, and graphical firewall configuration tool.

                    Release Notes: Kerberos authentication tools, gnupg, and Netscape 128-bit are included now that the export restrictions are gone, software RAID has been optimized for the Pentium III, an optional sysctl program has been added to take care of /proc/sys settings, new font installations are now recognized automatically (no need to run mkfontdir anymore), autodetection and support of up to 4 GB RAM has been added, and termcaps have been fixed to be more consistent (Backspace, Delete, Home, and End now do what you'd expect them to do everywhere). A more secure default installation (with fewer running daemons) is provided, along with better internationalization support (16-bit display support; Netscape now speaks French, Spanish, German, and Japanese) and new packages, including Mesa, sawmill, anacron, docbook, joystick, rpmlint, and stylesheets.
