recoverdm is a program that helps to recover disks with bad sectors. Files can be recovered as well as complete devices. If a sector (on a CD/DVD) cannot be read, even after several retries, it also tries to read the sector in RAW-mode. Multiple images of multiple recovery attempts can be merged into one correct image.
Release Notes: This release adds the ability to set the start-offset to read from the damaged media, a small performance optimization, and a fix for an infinite loop.
Release Notes: When you have multiple copies of some data and all of those pieces are damaged, recoverdm can now then combine those copies into one correct image.
Release Notes: When reading CDROMs/DVDs, if a sector cannot be read, it is now read several times in RAW mode. After that, the most likely sector is written to disk. While writing to disk, sectors filled with 0x00 are replaced by phantom blocks. This is useful when, for example, recovering hard disk images; phantom blocks save disk space.
