Release Notes: The addition of Q3dCanvas in this release enables Quick3dApplet to work alongside standard Java widgets within an applet. The applet can now be used in standalone Java applications.
Release Notes: This release adds bump map rendering, and the 3ds file importer now reads texture and bump map files. Camera position/ direction has been implemented along with a map feature to allow efficient rendering within large scenes (only the objects visible from the current viewpoint are passed to the render engine). The space flight game applet now uses this for rendering the meteors. Please see the homepage for example applets.
Release Notes: The licence has changed from the GPL to the LGPL. Some functions for generating basic shapes together have been put into the directory Quick3dShapes, rather than having them scattered through the example applets.
Release Notes: Some major changes were made to speed up the rendering engine. The user API was tidied up, and accessor methods are now used everywhere. Improvements were made to the demonstration applets.
Release Notes: A 3ds file reader has been added, so 3ds models can be viewed and rotated on a Web site without the need for special plugins. Several bugs have been fixed.
Release Notes: This release adds Phong-map shading to produce the appearance of smooth surfaces, implements collision detection, and adds a background image facility. The example applets have been improved (they can be viewed on the project homepage).
Release Notes: An anti-aliasing option was implemented, which obviously comes with a speed hit. To demonstrate anti-aliasing, a new example applet that displays an interactive 3D chessboard was included. The rendering speed was improved and a texture display bug was fixed.
