Quat is a program for generation of 3d fractal objects. These objects are Julia sets using quaternions. Features include calculation of usual images and stereo pair images for real 3d views, a user-specified true color palette for flexible coloring, 5 iteration formulas, and intersection planes to view the interior of the three-dimensional fractal. A text mode version for batch calculation is also available.

Release Notes: Quat now has a resizable Julia Preview in the Parameter Editor, which displays with the same aspect ratio as the image. By using a new version of FLTK (1.1), Quat has tooltips, a much improved file chooser, and other usability improvements, like an integrated documentation browser. The maximum image size in pixels has been raised to 32,767 in the GUI version and 100,000 in the text version. The Windows version uses an installer, and there are versions optimized for Pentium 3/4. Some bugs have been fixed.

Release Notes: Text version (DOS) can again be interrupted by a key press. Source code fixed for compilation with glibc 2.2 and/or gcc 3.0. Improved configure script.

Release Notes: New iteration formulas, speed-up of the lambda formula, new user interface (now using FLTK), object-related coloring (the orbit of the voxel that gets colored is now accessible in the color formula) and, of course, many bugfixes.
