Re-docking the Editor
Trying to learn how to use Quanta Plus, I have run into a couple problems that aren't covered in the Manual.
1. To start out I created a New Project and set the project directory to a subdirectory in htdocs where there is an existing website that I want to edit. This is the actual web dir with Apache running on the same machine. I checked the box to add existing files to the project, and it added all my files and subdirs. So far so good, but no matter which html file I click to edit, all I get is a Preview window with the "Welcome to Quanta Plus" page. The files I have selected are highlighted in bold, and the Structure Tree view does show the DOM for the most recent file. I just don't see the edit window with the code. The only way I have been able to make the editor appear is by opening a New html file. Then the editor appears with the new file and tabs at the bottom for the other open files.
2. Maybe this is related. Somehow I detached the Editor window from the main environment, probably by clicking the tiny arrow in the upper right corner. Nothing I have tried will make the editor re-dock. Selecting "Separate Attribute Tree" or "Tabbed Treeviews" in the Settings changes nothing. Is there any kind of reset command to return to default settings? Or if not, can I edit a config file somewhere to make the environment come up in its default state?

Thank you for your reply, Shawn. I hope you didn't mind my tone too much, but I was *really* mad when I wrote the original comment (I know, you shouldn't write comments then, but ...).
As I can see from the product page, you've added a contact address for people with demo problems.
In the meantime I've fixed the problems I had with the free version by myself but I certainly will give your product another try if the need arises.

I'm sorry you had trouble, but you didn't avail yourself of the various tools to ask questions. There is a support list of QG that you were notified of at purchase, we have a phone number, fax number, various email addresses that are easy to find. Yes, we charge for specific priority support, but we are always happy to try and help whenever possible and as quickly as possible. I'm sorry *you* were frustrated, but your accusations are not correct.
What you might have run into is a problem with KDE3 that is affecting some people with Quanta Gold and we should have a fix for in the next few days. You get free unlimited updates with your purchase as well.
There is no FAQ or install instructions beyond what we currently have, because until just recently with KDE3 it always worked without trouble, run the install script and you are done.

I was looking for a KDE free version of Quanta and this seemed to fit the bill. I've tried for one hour now to get this darned thing up - in vain ...
There's no installation documentation whatsoever. And the installation program does no sanity checking either. If the program segfaults on startup because you happen to have qt3 installed, tough. Actually you have to guess that since no meaningful error message is provided.
OK, so I removed qt3. Now it doesn't segfault any more; instead everytime I try to start this program, I get a nice message window: 'Critical error... Installation not complete'. Reinstallation doesn't fix this error.
TheKompany provides absolutely no troubleshooting help for Quanta, no contact address, no help forum.
Wait, did I day that? They *do* provide support ... for 15$ per incident.
I've got nothing against proprietary software. I'm using Opera day in day out on three platforms and am very happy with it. Because it works, because I get support, because it's a fine product. All three absent here. You want my money for that? You must be kidding ...
