All releases tagged Major feature enhancements

Release Notes: This version comes with a great number of major fixes and improvements. Generic support was added for driving a ROM tool for any external processing based on the game/machine ID or its title. Newer XML data formats are now supported when retrieving game/machine details. Experimental support for Qt 4.7 was provided, though one minor embedder-related issue remains. On X11 platforms, the embedder now handles multiple emulators correctly when they are running the same game/machine.

Release Notes: Support for Windows (Win32) and the original MAME and MESS variants. ROMAlyzer: support for CHD v4. Main widget layout improvements to allow for more flexibility. An updated template format to support directories and files. The user may enable/disable double-click activation in the game/machine lists. It shows the sort indicator in game/machine list headers and lets the user change the sort criteria and order. Selectable tab positions for the main widget. Support for additional artwork (cabinets, controllers, marquees and titles). Statistical ROM state information is sent to the front end log

Release Notes: Full device support through the new MESS device configurator for SDLMESS. Mac OS builds are cleanly supported now. New ROM state toggles in the main widget (including new remappable shortcuts). ROMalyzer improvements. Parent image fallback. Display of game/machine descriptions in preview and flier images. A vertical game/machine status indicator. All QMC2 variants are now separately configured within the settings while cloning an existing configuration of the other variant (as far as is meaningful). There are many bugfixes.

Release Notes: The SDLMAME options template has been updated to 0.128u7. The options joy_idx1 - joy_idx8 have been added. The template format has been updated to include the template's emulator name. ROMAlyzer determines ROM file CRC identification issues in ZIP files. Several macro definitions have been changed to be consistent within QMC2's namespace. There are new make options, a new SDLMESS options template (see data/opt/SDLMESS/template.xml, initial version 0.128), experimental support for SDLMESS (very basic and no device support yet), and much more.

Release Notes: Direct GUI control via digital and analog joysticks through SDL. Optional use of OpenGL to draw images. Support for MAME's history.dat and mameinfo.dat information databases. Full screen toggle for the main widget. Style handling has been improved to allow for on-the-fly switching to the system's default GUI style. Improved window flags to better handle individual windows. Architecture-independant OS detection. Several widget restoration bugs have been fixed, as well as a number of other/older bugs.

Release Notes: This release has support for multiple ini paths for import and export functions, restoration of the toolbar position (floating or embedded), a built-in ROMAlyzer to deeply analyze individual ROM and CHD files, a Polish translation, and clean support for plural translation in natural language. Qt 4.3+ is required (Qt 4.3.4+ recommended), and XMAME support has been dropped.

Release Notes: This release includes a lot of bugfixes, some major improvements, and many new and important features. The most important ones are import and export of global and game-specific MAME configurations, PNG game icons, support for BIOS ROMs, a game list cache that gives a tremendous speed-up at reload, support for alternative image sets, and a shortcut and GUI control key remapper.

Release Notes: In this version, the gamelist now scrolls correctly, some tooltips were corrected, the wrong dialog caption for temp dir selection was fixed, the log now shows some data, and the log is now updated after gamelist refresh. The xmame log is now triggered by the process manager, there is a complex dialog to edit M.A.M.E. command line options, the options and MAME options dialogs were totally redesigned, and a Qt-based installer was added.

Release Notes: From now on, Qt 3.0.0 or above is required. The settings dialog was redesigned via Qt's GUI designer. The old font-specification method has been replaced with Qt's way of handling fonts. The new settings dialog makes it easy to reconfigure your fonts. Eight different GUI-styles are now supported. The ROM status parser is now less CPU-intensive and generally more reliable. The search-widget is now a combo box. Any changes to the window layout are now recognized. qmamecat will ask you to save the layout, if applicable.

Release Notes: The preview images can now be shown inside the main-widget, beside or below the gamelist. Previews can now be scaled, and the preview window can be resized. A warning message is shown before the ROM status cache is refreshed. Eleven new options were added, including pvw_w, pvw_h, integrated_preview, scaled_preview, and preview_below. The view menu was changed to include a new preview popup. Pressing the right mouse button within the preview or log windows now displays the context menu.
