Release Notes: This release features a complete rewrite of the database layer for improved speed and functionality. More metadata is now stored, including ReplayGain information and song lyrics. Compilations are now grouped separately, as are podcasts.
Release Notes: This release adds support for nested database filters. Statistical information about the song databases can now be displayed. The size of the database request cache can be customized. A C version of the output ring-buffer has been added. The play speed can now be changed. Various bugs have been fixed.
Release Notes: This release adds support for more than two databases and for a virtual database containing the songs from all databases. A database caching layer was added for improved performance. A plugin system allows external modules to extend the functionality of PyTone. Several minor bugs have been fixed.
Release Notes: Filtering songs by their rating is now possible. Playing the previous song has been implemented. Various ID3 tag transformations can now be customized. Incremental searching and search repetition have been implemented. A song is now considered as not having been played if its playback aborted very early. An arbitrary shell command can be automatically executed when the playback of a new song starts. The scheduled starting times of the songs in the playlist can be displayed.
Release Notes: Besides a major code reorganisation, many new features are included in this release: new lists of all songs and albums as well as the most recently played songs. The currently playing song is now highlighted in the playlist. Support for the new ossaudiodev contained in Python 2.3 has been added. A new config file format allows for easier customization. Multiple instances of PyTone can now be connected via network. Furthermore, many bugs have been fixed, including an oft-reported crash with certain id3 tags containing \0 characters.
Release Notes: There are major bugfixes, including a problem with the internal player that prevented playing with some sound drivers. The database should not crash on exit anymore. Manual generation of the database is now supported. New features include id3v2 support, song rating, sorting by decades, and an improved random song selection function which takes into account the song rating.
Release Notes: There are now lists of the last and most-often-played songs. Sorting by genre has been implemented. The filesystem view has been integrated in the database view. Playlists are now cataloged in the database, as well. Support for terminal resizing has been added. Instead of crossfading two successive songs of the same album, only the gap is now killed between them.
