PWM

PWM is a rather lightweight window manager that can have multiple client windows attached to a single frame. This feature helps keeping windows, especially the numerous xterms, organized.

            But,
still PWM was truly lightweight, no dependencies, no nothing.
ION depends on lua needs much more "configuration effort".
PWM2 depends on ion - which makes it even more
            "complicated".
What i had liked most on pwm was it's simplicity.
PLEASE - make new releases of original PWM.
(you can see it is still rather high rated on freshmeat...)

No, it was not abandoned. There hasn't been any new relases in quite a long time but lately there's been some work done on a new version. Have a look at the PWM web page for details.

It's a shame that PWM's development was abandoned.
I think that the new Ion is not as good as PWM.
Today many of PWM's ideas are imlemented in new WM's,
            like fluxbox and pekwm.
But the original one - could have been the best, if it was still
            under development + maintenance.... :(

            Great Start
I am impressed with the minimal size, stability, and functionality of pwm! After searching windowmanagers for months, I must say this one is keeping me the most happy right now. It has what I want most: Mod1 clicking anywhere in the client to move and resize, full keyboard support, and multi-window grouping. Only one problem have I spotted so far, if you try to do too much editing in the pwm.conf file you can get kinda screwed up. window borders and deco go all black/white ect.
