Release Notes: Postfilter now works with INN 2.5. A better installer was implemented. The documentation is now more complete. Postlegal is able to generate statistical data.

Release Notes: This release is a major update, and is much more configurable. It has an installer, legal logs are handled in a much better way, and the code is better under many points of view. Everyone should upgrade.

  •  25 Apr 2009 20:03

Release Notes: This release solves a few bugs and adds some minor features (mostly good support for URIBLs and a better way to handle the Date header).

  •  20 Jan 2009 11:35

Release Notes: Postfilter now supports DNSLBL, is able to block all connections that come from TOR without external programs, and is able to correctly process articles that come from stdin. Users can include their own rules without touching the source code. Several bugs were fixed.

  •  24 Nov 2008 00:19

Release Notes: The old single configuration file (postfilter.conf) was split into many smaller files. The logging subsystem is much better. The multipost can be allowed. Articles that come from TOR nodes can be rejected. There are many bugfixes.

  •  23 Oct 2008 23:42

Release Notes: Groups that need auto-approved messages (notably alt.sysadmin.recovery) are now supported. Allowed Content-Types can be configured per group. By default, only "text/plain" is allowed for all (only control.* has its own rules). Forbidden HTML tags can be configured, and some group can be excluded by this check. Forgeries of system headers can be easily blocked. Control cancels and Supersedes are separately handled. Now UUEncoded binaries can be rejected if $config{'allow_uuencode'} is set to "false". Before this, the only way to ban UUEncode was through the banlist.

  •  22 Oct 2008 17:31

Release Notes: This release uses 'delete $hdr{'Header'};' instead of '$hdr{'Header'} = undef;'. The behavior of postfilter when an error is found inside banlist.conf is configurable. The maximum difference between the number of groups in Followup-To and in Newsgroups can be set. Articles that include the same groups inside Newsgroups: and Followup-To: can be rejected. Articles that come from TOR exit nodes can be filtered. A new tool, postfilter-legal.pl, can query and expire legal.log.

    •  27 Dec 2006 17:13

Release Notes: This release adds a new more powerful ban list. Improved Web documentation is available.

    •  05 Nov 2006 06:01

Release Notes: A MySQL storage backend was added, so now the spool can be handled through a MySQL server. A "state" command was added, which allows you to close or disable the filter. A forbidden crosspost rule was added, which allows you to forbid crossposting among groups. Now it's possible to avoid the filter to run innconfval (which is useful for large sites). The errors are now handled in a clearer form.
