Pincaster is designed to conveniently store objects with arbitrary properties and 2D geographic positions. Records can then be retrieved by a center point and a radius (proximity) or rectangular zones (maps view), thus making it a great helper for geolocalized applications.

Release Notes: Range queries on keys are now supported. In addition, Pincaster can now act as a Web server and directly serve documents stored in special records properties. Also, some bug fixes related to distance computations in geographic searches have been fixed.

Hence, in addition to geographic search, Pincaster can now be used as an alternative to memcache that provides on-disk persistence and speaks HTTP/JSON. Timestamps have been added to the journal in order to ease point in time recovery.
