Re: great potential ... but...
Development has been going on at an insane rate and if you needed new features you were welcome to use the development code. We are a couple weeks from a new release, but it will still not be 1.0.
In general I think phpGW is more than stable enough to be called 1.0 by most projects standards, but the phpGW team has a higher standard and we wont be rushed to call a release 1.0 just so you or anyone else can think its credible.

That's a great idea; I'll try to find someone to do it. There isn't
an obvious person for this job, so if you have any suggestions, let me
know.

Thanks,

Re: great potential ... but...
at the time there were many alternatives, now a search for groupware shows 45 projects. perhaps groupware would be a suitable catgory for the "category reviews" section. like "financial packages", credible "groupware" applications certainly make linux a more attractive option for the business world.

Not to criticize(?) the work of the phpGroupware authors, but did you try other groupware applications?
There are several -free- alternatives to phpGroupware. For instance, MoreGroupware (http://www.moregroupware.org) is extremely actively developed and quite stable!

great potential ... but...
almost 5 months ago i downloaded 0.9.12 ,set it up in a small (20 user) office environment and got it running nicely on an old pentium.i spent a lot of time fine tuning and training users, in the hope that it would one day, maybe, get to version 1 and be a little bit more credible.
gee it's taken a long time to get nowhere, nothing really works completely, a lot of of things almost work, but have bits missing, some things arent very user friendly and have no documentation. in the end i had to through it out and spend $700 on teamware.
