perlbox is a desktop manager for UNIX-type systems written in Perl Tk. Features include a retractable taskbar with a configurable start menu, run box, embedded mail client, and support for voice recognition. The desktop features configurable, clickable, graphical icons.

    Release Notes: New file selection widgets were added. The installer and the configuration system were improved.

      Release Notes: New, faster dialogs and file selectors offered by the libPB API, an enhanced background configuration, a new 'control panel' style configuration (no wizards!), and general code reductions and optimizations.

        Release Notes: This release takes care of some problems with setting up paths in version 0.1.1, and has added icon support and configuration options.

          Release Notes: This version includes the ability to add icons on the fly by right-clicking on the desktop and selecting "Add Icon". There is also a new option in the configuration wizard to change the desktop logo.

            Release Notes: This release contains several critical fixes, the most important of which concerns the manner in which applications were communicating. It has stopped using Tk::send and Tk::receive due to differences in the manner in which different implementations of Perl deal with taint checking. Other major features include a "configuration wizard", which is accessible by a right-clicking on the desktop.
