Release Notes: The default kernel has been replaced with a 2.6 OpenVZ one (featuring optional container-based virtualization). OpenVZ tools have been integrated (vzctl and vzquota packages needed to create, control, examine, and/or destroy OpenVZ containers). The vsftpd and diffstat packages have been updated to new upstream versions. New ISO images have been generated for x86 and x86-64.
Release Notes: The default kernel has been updated to Linux 188.8.131.52-ow1. The userland's support for Linux 2.6.x kernels has been made official. The vsftpd, iptables, passwdqc, cpio, e2fsprogs, strace, VIM, and xinetd packages have been updated to new versions since last month's ISO snapshots. New ISO images have been generated for x86 and x86-64.
Release Notes: This branch adds post-release security and other bugfixes against Owl 2.0. The changes since Owl 2.0 so far include updates to tar, GnuPG, and John the Ripper.
Release Notes: Many packages have been updated to newer versions: the system now uses Linux kernel 2.4.32-ow1, glibc 2.3.6 (with custom security enhancements), gcc 3.4.5, and recent versions of other packages, and it offers binary and package level compatibility for most packages intended for RHEL4 and FC3, as well as for many FC4 packages. New packages have been added, including BIND, OpenNTPD, tinycdb, PCRE, and others. A new installer has been developed, making installation a lot easier. Further security enhancements and various bugfixes have been made.
Release Notes: The Owl 1.1-stable branch is now maintained, and snapshots are being made available on the FTP mirrors. This branch adds post-release security and other bugfixes against Owl 1.1.
Release Notes: Many packages have been updated to newer versions. Linux 2.4.x kernels are now the default (2.4.23-ow2 is used in the release). /etc/tcb advanced password shadowing is now used by default. New packages have been added: nc (OpenBSD netcat), Mutt, msulogin (replaces SysVinit sulogin), cvs, Nmap, prtconf (on SPARC), iptables, dhcp, raidtools, and libcap. Many of these have had significant modifications. Various bugfixes have been made.
