Release Notes: In this version, AC3 passthrough support was added for Yamaha DSXG, SiS7012, CMI8738, SBLive-Dell-OEM, and VIA8233. SPDIF output support was added for AC97 devices from Sigmatel. There is now 4/6 channel support for Intel ICH3/4/5 and SiS7012 devices.
Release Notes: This version includes support for SBLive 5.1 for Dell machines. The Aureal Vortex drivers now support /dev/dsp0 and /dev/dsp1 for apps that need two devices for full duplex. There are AudioPCI97 updates with support for rear speakers and also dual-dac support. /dev/dsp0 can now play audio on front speakers and /dev/dsp1 can play audio on rear speakers. There is also support for FreeBSD 5.0, including SMP support.

Multichannel audio devices are now supported for the VIA8233, fixes for VIA97 timeout problems were included, and extended volume controls were added for the ALC650 AC97.
Release Notes: 4Front Virtual Mixer now comes standard with the OSS drivers. The basic Virtual Mixer technology allows users to play upto 4 audio apps at the same time. The soundconf program now provides an Audio-Self-Test option. PCI audio devices have been reordered. A new option in soundconf allows you to select which soundcard becomes the default audio device. On Linux and Solaris x86, the Virtual Mixer devices are automatically assigned and allocated by OSS when audio applications are started. LynuxWorks LynxOS 4.0 and OpenBSD 3.1 are now supported.
Release Notes: Support was added for MIDIMan Delta 1010LT/Delta 410 and Delta TDIF cards, for ADAT mode on Terratec EW88MT, for VIA VT8233A-based motherboard onboard audio. An osstest program was added for testing audio left/right speakers on all audio devices. ISA/PCI soundcards are now supported under LynxOS 4.0 RTOS on Intel x86 platforms.

Release Notes: The Virtual Mixer has volume control, VU meters, a 4 channel professional equalizer, bass/treble on any sound card, and a loopback recording mode where you can record any audio that's played via virtual mixer. This "record-as-you-play" feature allows you to record audio from Real Player, games, and mixed output from multiple apps. Upto 48 Virtual Mixer and Input Multiplexer devices are now configurable. Up to 48 SBLive hardware channels can now be configured. There is beta Sound Blaster Audigy support.
